Physician - Critical Care Anesthesiology Section Head

Job Overview

Ochsner Health in New Orleans, Louisiana is searching for a Section Head for Critical Care Anesthesiology.

This role serves as unit co‑director for the Thoracic and Cardiovascular ICU at Ochsner Medical Center, a 900‑bed tertiary‑care referral center. The successful candidate will lead a growing team of Critical Care Anesthesiology faculty members within the Department of Anesthesiology. In addition to ICU work, the position may include up to 30% of clinical time practicing operative anesthesiology.

The TCVICU employs an interprofessional care model covering 12 beds with patients across cardiovascular surgical disciplines, including cardiothoracic surgery, mechanical circulatory support (ECMO, LVAD, IABP, etc.) and vascular surgery.

Candidates should be Board Certified, Fellowship‑trained Critical Care Anesthesiologists, or have significant experience with Cardiac Critical Care Anesthesiology. A strong interest in academics and research is required. The program is teaching with an accredited Anesthesiology residency and adult cardiac anesthesia, pulmonary critical care, and neurocritical care fellowship programs.
