Professor of Practice – Neuroscience

The Department of Psychology ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) at Tulane University in New Orleans announces a Professor of Practice position in neuroscience with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will teach psychology lecture and laboratory courses that are cross‑listed with the program in neuroscience (), such as Brain & Behavior
, Cognitive Neuroscience
, Affective Neuroscience
, and/or Behavioral Endocrinology
. Specific responsibilities of the nine‑month appointment include teaching the equivalent of three courses each semester, advising psychology students who double‑major in neuroscience, and serving on department, program, and university committees. Professors of Practice hold three‑year renewable contracts and, after serving two three‑year terms, are eligible for promotion to Senior Professor of Practice with five‑year renewal terms.

Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary program under the auspices of the Tulane Brain Institute () with faculty from across the University, including the Schools of Medicine, Science & Engineering, and Liberal Arts. One‑third of the Department of Psychology faculty are members of the Tulane Brain Institute and are active members of the neuroscience program. The Department of Psychology currently includes seven full‑time professors of practice and fifteen tenure‑track professors.

Both the Department of Psychology and the Program in Neuroscience offer PhD, MS, and BS degrees, and are the two largest undergraduate majors in the School of Science and Engineering. The ideal candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching as well as innovative and inclusive pedagogy.
