The Program Coordinator is integral to a team that provides communication, programming, and services to encourage the successful transition of all first-year students to Tulane University. Specifically, this position supports the first-year experience team in the planning and execution of year-long orientation initiatives designed to promote the success of all first-year students, to root them in the academic campus culture, and to improve student persistence.
Additionally, the Program Coordinator oversees the hiring, training, and leadership development of 125+ orientation leaders and 15 student directors in support of fall and spring orientation. Lastly, this position considers specific programs and responses to student retention interventions and known populations of concern.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, assisting students in their transition to college.
- Ability to manage projects and plan successful events in line with an overall mission towards student success.
- Knowledge of effective strategies for programmatic assessment.
- Ability to foster a collaborative environment across organizational lines with a range of constituents.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present information to a variety of audiences.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- OR
- High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 6 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience with initiatives supporting the successful transition of traditional‑aged first‑year college students.
- Demonstrated commitment to building programs and services with diverse student groups in mind.
- Proven student‑centered and customer‑service oriented professionalism.
- Experience developing and implementing assessment and evaluation in achieving continuous programmatic improvements.
This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 23.
