The Department of Jewish Studies at Tulane University is searching for a full‑time Professor of Practice (non‑tenure track, 3‑year renewable appointment) in modern Hebrew language. Appointment to begin July 1, 2026. Requirements include a PhD in language pedagogy, Hebrew, or a related field, extensive teaching experience at the college level and a record of success in the classroom. We especially welcome candidates with an interest in helping us build Hebrew language curricular offerings teaching load is 3 courses per semester and will involve teaching at the first‑ and second‑year levels as well as more advanced courses in the target language.
As we are developing a Languages Across the Curriculum program, please suggest additional subject areas, both within and beyond Jewish Studies, where you might be able to teach a course in modern Hebrew.
- Teach 3 courses per semester at first‑ and second‑year levels and advanced courses in modern Hebrew.
- Develop and enhance Hebrew language curricula and contribute to the Languages Across the Curriculum program.
- Suggest and teach courses in additional subject areas where modern Hebrew can be integrated.
- PhD in language pedagogy, Hebrew, or a related field.
- Extensive college‑level teaching experience with a proven record of classroom success.
- Demonstrated interest in curriculum development and interdisciplinary teaching.
