2025-26 ACT Prep Teacher (New Orleans, LA) About this role

We currently have four high schools in New Orleans and one high school in Baton Rouge, and we are hiring ACT Prep teachers in both cities. Teachers must be deeply committed to creating a classroom culture where 100% of your students are engaged in rigorous lessons aligned to the college-ready bar.

Our approach to ACT Prep

ACT Prep teachers prepare students for the ACT exam and the Accuplacer exam. This course is distinguished by the use of data to tailor instruction to each student’s needs and their individual goals. It draws from a variety of curriculum both from inside and outside of CA.

Your job is not this test, but rather to be a life coach — it is to help clear this obstacle and get your students where they need to be at age 17 or 18 so they can be where they want to be when they are 27 or 28. You must know your students and their career and college goals extremely well and use data to create an ACT plan to allow them to meet those goals.

You will work with your students to build their ownership of their career goals, college goal, and, in turn, their ACT goal.

Teacher development at Collegiate Academies
  • Our approach to teacher development at CA is focused on individual goals and growth combined with a high degree of individualized support.
  • Every teacher has a coach, and you will collaboratively, with your coach, create your growth goals and determine the plan that will see you hit those goals.
  • There are some things in common with other teachers at your school – school goals, school priorities, school-based PD, etc. – but it is in your relationship with your coach where you will translate those things into what you specifically need to meet those goals yourself.
  • You will also grow year over year as an expert in your content in collaboration with your peers across the network through content-specific professional development and data investigations.
  • There is an additional layer of support for first-year teachers called the CA Teacher Residency (CATR), which is an intensified, pre-service and coaching plan to develop you in the skills that we have seen that make rookie teachers most successful in their first year at CA.
