Position DetailsThis position is located in the Adair County Extension Office, Stillwell, OK. The incumbent provides leadership to family and consumer sciences (FCS) and supports the 4‑H youth development programs with approximately 50% of time spent in FCS and 50% in 4‑H youth development. Participation as a cohesive OSU Extension team member to involve local clientele and advisory groups to plan, implement, and evaluate the total county program is required.
The incumbent must maintain cellular or other electronic communication device; salary includes compensation for personal device use.
Extension educators comply with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, etc., related to equal opportunity, civil rights, and affirmative action. Extension educators are hired into the organization not into a specific geographic location. It is possible that future circumstances may require relocation.
Base annual salary for entry‑level educators: $44,000 for a bachelor’s degree; $50,000 for a master’s degree. Starting salary is based on education and prior relevant work experience. Extension educators hired with only a bachelor’s degree are encouraged to work toward completion of an approved master’s degree.
Continuation of employment is based upon need, performance and available county funding.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s in Family and Consumer Sciences, public health, or similar health‑related field is required. (Degree must be conferred on or before agreed‑upon start date.)
- For candidates without a degree in FCS, must successfully obtain the noted certifications within two years of employment. Certifications and courses:
- Take two approved education courses (Pedagogy & Classroom Management) and pass FCS OSAT within two years.
- If an Education Degree only: pass FCS OSAT within two years.
- If an alternative FCS certification and three years teaching: no special requirements.
- Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties.
- Reimbursement for official travel.
- Skills, Proficiencies, and Knowledge:
- Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate effectively, foster a professional image of OSU Extension, and display a positive view of the organization internally and externally.
