Designs components or portions of Piping systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, AUTOCAD, SHIP CONSTRUCTOR and NAVISWORKS. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
Full considerable knowledge of the job. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job, and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
Limited supervision. No instructions needed on routine work, and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments. Duties & tasks are varied and moderately complex. Resolves most questions and problems, and refers complex questions to higher levels.
Contacts are frequent with individuals representing other departments, and/or representing outside organizations. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data on matters of moderate importance to the function of the department or which may be of sensitive nature.
Associate's degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years experience. ( a combination of education and experience can be used in lieu of a degree)
Nice to HaveCandidate should be proficient in utilization of SHIP CONSTRUCTOR and AUTOCAD for the purpose of supporting design and extraction/development of new drawings or Siemens NX for generating VWI - Virtual Work Instructions.
