Location: New Orleans
Overview
Responsible supervisory work involving the operation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of heating, air‑conditioning, refrigeration, and other mechanical equipment in a group of major government buildings or all facilities of a major city department.
Responsibilities
• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, air‑conditioning, refrigeration, and other mechanical equipment.
• Supervise a maintenance team in the service of a major city department.
• Ensure compliance with safety and operating regulations for mechanical equipment.
Qualifications
• Three (3) years of full‑time experience as a stationary engineer.
• Permanent status with the City of New Orleans and three (3) years of experience as a maintenance engineer.
• Show proven ability to perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on mechanical equipment.
Licensing Requirements
• Possession of the following licenses issued by the Board of Examiners of Operating Engineers of the City of New Orleans:
• 1st Class Air Conditioning or Refrigeration License
• 1st Class Boilers License
• Some positions may require the possession of a 1st Class Internal Combustion License or the acquisition of such a license before the probationary end date.
• No probationary period may last longer than one year.
