Job Summary
Salas O’Brien is collaborating with the National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) of Carnegie Mellon University on the design of a Concrete Mat Laying Robotics System for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The project is moving from design and testing to full-scale production and deployment.
We seek an Integration Commissioning Technician to join our team in Lockport, LA, providing technical support throughout the development and production phases, collaborating with engineers and designers to ensure seamless integration of complex robotic systems.
Responsibilities- Assemble large mechanical robotic systems.
- Install mechanical components, motors, sensors, and subsystems onto larger robotic platforms.
- Integrate assemblies onto the Full Width System in Lockport, LA.
- Repair wiring and route electrical components as needed.
- Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications to ensure proper production and integration.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and rules.
- Provide mechanical technician support for large‑scale robotics testing and operational trials.
- Repair downed systems, replace defective parts, debug mechanical impediments.
- Represent our organization at various stakeholder meetings during the development of the Full Width Robotics System.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with robotics or electro‑mechanical systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings with minimal supervision.
- Clear communication of technical issues to supervisors.
- Punctual, organized, and reliable.
- Proficient with basic hand tools and measurement instruments.
- Skill in equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of related mechanical experience.
- Availability to travel approximately once a month.

Possible travel to Pittsburgh, PA.
