Overview
Mechanical Engineer (Rotational Program) – Westlake (GROW: Graduate Rotational Opportunities at Westlake)
Westlake offers a 3–5 year rotational leadership development program for newly graduated mechanical engineers within the Performance and Essential Materials business segment. The program provides on-the-job experience, leadership and technical training, and opportunities to work on diverse projects across the business.
Responsibilities- Rotate through roles such as Operations, Reliability, Capital Projects, Continuous Improvement, Process Controls, Business Management, and Supply Chain & Logistics.
- Work on projects under the guidance of a mentor, with the aim of developing leadership and engineering capabilities, solving real-world problems, and driving product and process innovation.
- Participate in high-performance teamwork to deliver solutions that support manufacturing and supply of essential products globally.
- Gain exposure to various business processes and day-to-day operations across rotations.
- Delivering breakthrough solutions
- Monitoring and developing improvements to current processes to yield cost savings, quality improvements, and increased efficiency
- Developing leadership skills
- Continuously striving for the highest level of performance
- Maintaining a safety mindset in all work
- Adding value for customers
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 0-2 years of relevant work experience
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Willing to rotate to different US locations every 12–18 months for a total of 3–5 years
- Ability and willingness to obtain a Transportation Worker’s Identification Card (TWIC)
- Strong teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The role may require sustained concentration and occasional decision-making.
WorkEnvironment
The work environment may include office settings and operating units where PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.) is required. Some travel by air or car may be required, and exposure to outside elements is possible.
