Job Summary
The Senior level engineer will support air quality permitting and regulatory compliance. This position will work closely with our engineering teams and project management teams on new or modified air permit applications for new projects, renewals of existing sites air permits, and regulatory-required air reporting including air emission inventories, deviation reporting, and compliance certifications. The Senior level specialist/engineer will also serve as a technical resource in air quality for the environmental compliance team, operations, engineering, and project management.
The Senior level engineer will be responsible for planning and conducting air quality-related engineering activities. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the application of theories, precepts, practice and discipline, including practical field experience. Incumbents have the responsibility and authority to make decisions on engineering problems and methods applicable to the resolution of important issues. Participates on and leads teams of field employees, technicians, engineers and other personnel.
KeyAccountabilities
- Compiles, reviews, and submits air permit applications for sites located within DTM’s footprint, including both gathering and transmission facilities across the northeast, southern and midwestern states.
- Interfaces with state and federal regulatory agencies and negotiates flexible air permits.
- Compiles, reviews and submits air emission inventories to various state agencies.
- Compiles, reviews and submits deviation reports and annual compliance certifications to various state agencies and EPA.
- Compiles and reviews the development of greenhouse gas emission calculations for the company footprint for sustainability reporting and reporting to various trade organizations.
- Interfaces with outside departments, vendors, suppliers, and reliability entities.
- Develops or assists in presentations of air quality-related projects to all levels of management & external parties (contractors, customers, etc.).
- Plans and manages group workflow to meet budgets and schedules.
- May mentor and provide guidance/direction for less experienced staff.
- Leads in ensuring air regulatory compliance by monitoring, reporting, developing and implementing procedures and strategies.
- Leads, performs, coordinate and recommends solutions for air quality issues based on investigations, professional judgement and current industry practices.
- Leads in the review and interpretation of air quality regulations and proposed regulatory changes to assess impact and to ensure compliance.
- Represents the company on air quality issues with regulatory agencies and industry groups.
- Demonstrates an expert understanding and interprets air quality laws and regulations.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or job-related discipline
- 6 years of related experience
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management, prioritization, and organization skills.
- Proficient communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in &E Pro Max modeling software a plus, but not required.

Working ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee works both in a business office setting and at a project site. In the course of working at the project site, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including cold/hot, wet and/or humid conditions, and may work near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration (see physical requirements above).
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office, but may become loud at the project site.
