- Field Engineering responsibilities such as closeout redlines, test audits, lessons learned, warranties, and product submittals.
- Manage redlines and changes to the Scope of Work (SoW); field engineers finalize redlines for closeout after review by engineering.
- Build-out becomes the focus for redlining due to measurements, equipment placements, grounding/bonding; verify infrastructure to design/spec and finalize redlines as needed.
- Fiber scope: use internal tracker; update design from IES customer inputs; field engineers verify fiber scope.
- Copper scope: use internal tracker to support close-out; field engineer acts as point of contact to ensure print conformance and perform redlines for review.
- Network scope: coordinate with team to determine redline needs and assume responsibility where applicable.
- RFI referencing/implementation: field engineer references RFIs on redlines before QA review.
- Test Audits: field engineer conducts audits after project completion; verify cable schedules and assemble audit-ready packages; 100% verification against prints; manage retests and finalize audits upon completion.
- Lessons Learned: collaborate with engineers and QA to keep the lessons learned tracker updated; finalize/review template after each project.
- Warranties: field engineer gathers necessary information toward warranty processing and coordinates with a designated team member for document submission.
- Product Submittals: complete product submittals; verify BOM with POs and obtain product sheets; ensure alignment with RFP and template usage.
- Labels: print installation labels in advance and organize label bins per area; communicate reprint needs to engineering teams via email with reasons.
- RFI management: field engineer may oversee RFIs prior to submission, documenting design feedback as lessons learned; communicate acceptance/rejection to applicable teams.
- Design (Shop Drawings): oversee design work, verify and brainstorm quality improvements, submit into BIM
360, and manage revisions and hyperlinks. - Areas of focus include Infrastructure (Grounding/Bonding), Copper, Fiber, and Detail sheets.
