Location: New Orleans
Responsibilities
Inspectional work to secure compliance with municipal laws and regulations applicable to safe, adequate, and healthful housing construction and conditions; and related work as required.
Qualifications- Original entrance:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or high school diploma/GED plus three (3) years of experience involving heavy public contact, general compliance, investigatory, or enforcement activities. - Promotional:
Permanent status with the City of New Orleans as a Code Enforcement Inspector I and one year of experience in that classification. - Valid driver’s license may be required.
- Applicants hired between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2027 are exempt from the requirement to reside in Orleans Parish.
- A qualifying written exam is required. Credit is given only for experience gained within the last ten (10) years. Current employees in the Code Enforcement Inspector I classification are exempt from the written examination.
