The Vascular X-ray Technologist performs technical procedures applying ionizing radiation or other forms of energy. This position requires independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative essential to the satisfaction of the physician. • Accomplishes all positions related to each procedure without error and applies immobilization devices for patient comfort.
• Selects proper technique factor and produces images of desired quality.

• Arms the syringe and assists the physician in the delivery of contrast media; arms the injector and identifies malfunctions and corrective action.
• Recognizes life-threatening situations and acts accordingly to assist team members.
• Transports patients as necessary and transfers patients to the table without patient complaint.
• Assists in the use of a variety of equipment or procedures not routinely taught.
• Accepts Lead Tech responsibility in their absence and performs without causing complaints.
• Assists and evaluates students and support personnel to ensure proper care and film quality.

• Responsible for processing film, producing subtraction prints and/or film duplication without error and in a timely manner.
• Supports darkroom personnel in their absence to prevent delays.
• Ensures all film and records are transferred to the file room within 1 hour after exam completion.

• Inspects, maintains, and cleans all equipment daily to prevent damage; reports issues for corrective action.
• Ensures equipment is properly secured when not in use.

• Attends in-service lectures and reads routine or professional literature; seeks out educational offerings as they pertain to the position.
