Job Overview
12 hour Night shift (6:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m.)
The EKG Technician performs all 12‑lead electrocardiograms and/or rhythm strips on patients across the hospital. The role includes obtaining two high‑quality traces for better clarity, recognizing and reporting changes from previous tracings and any life‑threatening arrhythmias, and performing clerical functions necessary for maintenance of the EKG record in accordance with department policies and LCMC Health.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine 12‑lead EKGs following department protocols
- Respond to Code Blue events for emergent EKGs
- Prepare patient charts/orders for physician review and ensure accurate charge entry
- Distribute confirmed results to medical charts, ensuring timely delivery
- Maintain patient medical record files efficiently
- Inspect, maintain, and report equipment malfunctions; clean and sterilize equipment between patients
- Order supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels
- High School Diploma/GED or EKG program completion certificate, or comparable 2 years of work experience
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider certification
- Ability to work overnight shift
