Job Summary

The Division of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences invites applicants for Associate/Full Professor:
Endowed Chair in Pharmaceutical Sciences. This full‑time tenure‑track position begins immediately. The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Science, or Medicinal Chemistry. Expertise in basic or translational Pharmacology or Medicinal Chemistry with research focused on cancer therapeutic interventions (gene therapy, targeted therapies, tumor microenvironment, metastasis, therapeutic resistance, biomarkers, nuclear receptor signaling, and immunotherapy). The role includes leadership, research, teaching, and service within the Louisiana Cancer Research Center and collaboration across partner institutions.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Develop and sustain a vibrant cancer research agenda with publications and R01-level grant support.
  • Contribute to the growth of the university’s cancer research capacity.
  • Participate in Louisiana Cancer Research Center programs.
  • Teach, mentor, and advise Pharm

    D and MS students.
  • Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Participate in service activities for department, university, and community.
  • Attend on-campus meetings, assemblies, and graduation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Science, Medicinal Chemistry, or related science.
  • Distinguished record of research achievements in cancer therapeutics.
  • Current R01 and/or equivalent external funding in cancer research with plans to continue obtaining such funding.
  • Experience in securing external funding, with a strategy for maintaining at least 80% salary through grants.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring students at various levels (preferred).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Eligibility for appointment as Associate or Full Professor.
  • Commitment to working with a diverse student population.
  • Commitment to Xavier University mission.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with preclinical and clinical research methodologies in cancer treatment.
  • Prior teaching of undergraduate and graduate-level courses.
  • Track record of mentoring students, postdocs, and junior faculty.
  • Collaborative research across disciplines.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations related to cancer research.
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
