Overview
Electroneuro diagnostic Technologist – Allied health specialty for diagnosing patients with neurological disorders. Direct supervision of the laboratory supervisor. Conduct neurology testing procedures: EEG, EP, CLTM, NCS, TCD, IONM. Analyze and summarize results. Comply with OSHA and JCAHO guidelines.
Responsibilities- Set up patients for appropriate neurodiagnostic studies (EEG, EP, NCS, TCD, IOM).
- Accurately take and document pertinent patient history from chart or chart review.
- Apply recording electrodes and follow International 10-20 system for placement.
- Perform diagnostic studies with appropriate documentation and patient observation.
- Troubleshoot equipment and physiological artifacts, distinguishing normal from abnormal and using appropriate resources.
- Maintain basic infection control standards for patient and equipment, including electrodes/probes.
- Maintain professional development, clinical knowledge and technical skills.
- Adapt behavior to specific patient population, including privacy, introduction, explanation of services, communication style, and request permissions.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate degree preferred. - Experience:
None required; 2 years related experience preferred. - Certifications:
BLS required;
Preferred: R.NCS.T, R.EEG.T, R.EP.T, RVS, RCS, CLTM, CNIM. - Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
(KSAs):- Knowledge of basic infection control standards relating to patient and equipment, including electrodes/probes.
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Ability to build and maintain good rapport with patient and staff.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Ability to work effectively through changing priorities.
- Ability to work flexible schedule (extended shifts, nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.).
Medium work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently. Routine duties require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
