Position Summary
The Neuroscience Center of Excellence in the LSU School of Medicine is seeking applicants with an MD, MD/PhD, or PhD degree and an established record of innovative research on neurodegenerative diseases, Parkinson’s disease, ALS‑FTD, multiple sclerosis, stroke/vascular/Alzheimer’s dementia, traumatic brain injury, or related neurological disorders, including translational approaches. Primary academic department will be appropriate; rank and track to be determined by qualifications.
Successful candidates are expected to have a nationally recognized, competitively funded research program (NIH R01 or equivalent) and demonstrate the potential to continue that path. They will be expected to participate in graduate/medical student education and mentoring. Depending on their research focus, recruited faculty members may be jointly appointed in a clinical department. Qualified candidates will be offered support commensurate with their experience.
Minimum Qualifications- MD, MD/PhD, or PhD with proven research experience in neurodegenerative diseases and related disorders.
- Established, nationally recognized, competitively funded research program (NIH R01 or equivalent).
- Demonstrated potential to continue developing the research program.
- Experience in graduate/medical student education and mentoring.
Preferred candidates may possess additional experience and credentials related to clinical or translational neuroscience, but these are not mandatory.
