Pro Bono Supervisor

Provide legal representation to immigrant clients in removal proceedings and prepare cases for submission to USCIS. Responsibilities include representing clients in immigration court, family court for SIJ cases, and other legal relief. Majority of clients are unaccompanied children, or those needing humanitarian protection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise pro bono legal assistant, pro bono program specialist, volunteers, and pro bono attorneys.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor pro bono attorneys and volunteers; collaborate with partners.
  • Collect program-wide and grant-specific data; participate in community meetings.
  • Screen and refer pro-bono clients and families; coordinate placements and provide technical assistance.
  • Develop lasting relationships with law firms, non-profits, law clinics, and immigration working groups.
  • Review and manage caseload, ensuring deadlines are met; adjust program as needed.
  • Create training materials, maintain resource library, and promote volunteer recruitment events.
  • Report monthly on grants; collaborate with other departments to prioritize client well-being.
  • Provide specialized trainings for staff and external parties; carry out special projects as necessary.
The Successful Candidate
  • Juris Doctor with active State Bar membership (Louisiana license preferred).
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (writing and speaking).
  • Two years or more practicing immigration law, or relevant experience; clinical experience counted.
  • Experience with immigration and/or child dependency proceedings preferred.
  • Experience with children and/or survivors of abuse and trauma preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage substantial workload, meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online database software.
  • Must complete background checks and clearances.
  • Competent in effective communication with diverse cultural, geographic, and economic backgrounds.
