Legal Secretary, Paralegal
Location: New Orleans
responsible, professional, administrative, and analytical work at the legal department of the new orleans aviation board, performing assignments designed to develop the legal, technical, and management skills required to assist in various legal and contract administration activities. Assignments vary in nature and increase in difficulty with the objective of the employee advancing to higher‑level legal or administrative positions. Work is performed under the supervision of an attorney or administrative superior.
responsibilities- participate in managing the legal department’s portion of the contract routing and renewal process.
- conduct legal research.
- draft ordinances and agreements.
- prepare correspondence and presentations.
- maintain records and perform related duties as required.
- valid driver’s license; applicants must be eligible for coverage under the airport’s auto liability insurance policy.
- a juris doctorate from an accredited college or university.
- a bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of paralegal experience.
- completion of a paralegal studies or legal assistant study program at an accredited four‑year college or junior college, or a program approved by the american bar association (aba), and one (1) year of paralegal experience.
- completion of a paralegal studies or legal assistant study program with the certified paralegal (cp) certification issued by the national association of legal assistants (nala), inc.; this certification may substitute for the required one year of paralegal experience.
- prior to appointment, the hiring agency will verify education, license, and certifications claimed by the applicant. Selected applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials before the start date.
- applicants must pass a personal, criminal, and employment background check required under federal regulations and have good moral character.
