Position: AIRPORT ASSISTANT MAINTENANCE MANAGER (AIRFIELD) (CLASS CODE 8140)
Location: New Orleans

Job Overview

This is a supervisory airport maintenance role assisting the Airport Services Manager in directing comprehensive maintenance and repair programs for all external areas of the City’s municipal airport.

Responsibilities
  • Direct activities of employees maintaining and repairing airfields, runways, ramps, roadways, and grounds through subordinate supervisors.
  • Manage a work order system to monitor project completion.
  • Advising administrative superiors on maintenance and construction projects.
  • Coordinate with engineering personnel, contractors, and maintenance staff to schedule and perform maintenance and repair activities.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Either:
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
    • At least two (2) years of supervisory experience in airport operations, airport maintenance, or related fields.
  • Or:
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Five (5) years of full‑time experience at a Part 139 certificated airport involving work in at least two of the following areas: automotive maintenance and repair, grounds maintenance for a major facility, concrete and asphalt pavement installation and repair, roadway construction management, grading and excavation, demolition.
    • At least two (2) years of supervisory experience in airport operations, airport maintenance, or related fields.
  • Ability to maintain all required licenses, permits, certificates, and auto liability insurance eligibility throughout employment.
  • One‑year probationary period.
  • Pass a personal, criminal, and employment background check required under federal regulations.
  • Submit original documentation of any claimed credentials prior to the start date.
