Description
The Senior Manager, Operations – Transportation is responsible for leading strategic and operational execution across a regional transportation network. This role ensures service excellence, cost optimization, safety compliance, and team development while aligning operations with division goals. The Senior Manager will drive continuous improvement, foster cross-functional collaboration, and serve as a key liaison for major customer accounts.
Summary of Essential Job Functions Strategic & Operational Leadership- Oversee transportation operations across the region, including scheduling, dispatch, routing, and load execution.
- Develop and implement KPIs to monitor performance, cost-efficiency, and service delivery across the network.
- Support new business onboarding, including process design, labor modeling, and resource planning.
- Partner with dispatch, maintenance, safety, recruiting and customer service teams to ensure seamless logistics execution.
- Collaborate with commercial teams to support regional growth initiatives.
- Serve as the primary operations contact for key regional clients, ensuring SLA adherence and resolving escalations promptly.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to align operational strategies with business objectives.
- Prepare and manage regional budgets, labor planning, and cost controls.
- Analyze financial and operational reports to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop frontline supervisors, dispatchers, and support staff.
- Create a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance across all operational teams.
Skills and Qualifications Education- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in Transportation, Logistics, or Operations management, preferably in a multi-terminal or regional environment.
- Proven success in P&L management, strategic planning, and process improvement initiatives.
- Expertise in Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Microsoft Office Suite, and reporting tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of DOT, OSHA, and transportation regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
