AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to food service, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co‑op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co‑op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled butter makers and cheese makers.
EssentialResponsibilities
- All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
- This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibility.
- Perform routine in‑process testing during cheese production runs to monitor product quality.
- Accurately record data from lab tests and communicate results to production staff and supervisors.
- Analyze test results and collaborate with the production team to make real‑time process adjustments to reduce undergrades and improve product consistency.
- Use and maintain various lab equipment (e.g., pH meters, moisture analyzers, fat testers) to test product characteristics.
- Ensure all testing, procedures and documentation comply with SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards and company quality systems.
- Communicate findings clearly and effectively with production, quality, and management teams.
- Identify trends or issues in product quality and raise them as necessary.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and food‑safe laboratory and work area.
- Participate in internal audits, training, and continuous improvement activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
