Resaw Operator

Overview

Hunt Forest Products is seeking a Resaw Operator for its sawmill manufacturing operations in Olla, Louisiana. The Resaw Operator plays a critical role in manufacturing hardwood lumber and ensuring product quality and safety.

• Operate the head saw to prepare logs for a variety of resawing tasks.
• Determine the optimal position of logs on the carriage to maximize output and grade recovery.
• Understand the operation of resaw equipment and related machinery.
• Perform startups, shutdowns, inspections, and routine maintenance.
• Respond to equipment malfunctions and troubleshooting as needed.
• Ensure safe and efficient operation at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous hardwood sawmill experience preferred.
• Knowledge of NHLA lumber grades is a plus.
• Must understand sawmill manufacturing operations and safety protocols.
• Strong working knowledge of lumber grades and sorting
• Ability to control and enter information into production equipment.
• Must be able to work independently and follow multi-tasking procedures.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
• Ability to monitor and maintain production standards.
• Reliable attendance and excellent work ethic required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

• Must be able to lift and move heavy materials as required.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
