Job Title:
2nd shift Manual Machinist
As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for machining parts for rotating equipment such as pumps, shafts, couplings, rings, cases, turbines, and valves using manual mills and lathes. You will primarily work with steel and stainless steel, operating within a tolerance of down to .5 1000's of an inch. This role requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in manual machining.
Responsibilities- Machine parts for rotating equipment using manual mills and lathes.
- Operate lathes and mills with precision.
- Work primarily with steel and stainless steel materials.
- Ensure machining is within a tolerance of .5 1000's of an inch.
- Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
- Utilize tools such as calipers, micrometers, and drill presses effectively.
- 4+ years of experience in manual machining.
- Proficiency in operating manual lathes and mills.
- Ability to machine pump components including shafts, sleeves, rings, impellers, heads, and casings.
- Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, and blueprint reading.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with vertical turret lathes (VTL) and horizontal boring mills (HBM) is highly desirable.
- Strong job tenure is a plus.

WorkEnvironment
The work schedule is from 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM, Monday through Thursday, with some variability on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays for emergencies, which are compensated at double time. The shop is an indoor, climate‑controlled environment. Employees receive 8 holidays and 2 floating holidays, along with a 4% match on the 401(k) plan.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Orleans, LA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $34.00‑$40.00/hr.
