Under the direct supervision of the Palo Alto County Conservation Director, the Park Technician will work closely with the Operations Supervisor and Director to carry out all aspects of Palo Alto County Conservation goals. These aspects include tree removal, prairie restoration, wetland management, timber management, prescribed fire, janitorial duties, park maintenance, and managing the PACCB campground.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
The Park Technician will need to apply knowledge and common sense to achieve work objectives. Abilities include operating heavy equipment, power tools, ATVs, fire equipment, radios, sprayers, and chainsaws. This position will need to complete projects in a timely manner without compromising the quality of work. Must be able to train and supervise seasonal staff, communicate clearly with the public and staff, lift 50 pounds routinely, work in extreme weather environments, and prioritize workloads.
This position will require an Iowa driver’s license, Iowa Pesticide Applicator license categories 2, 5, and 6, CPR certification, and completion of Wildland Fire Courses S 130 and S 190 within 6 months of hire.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree or bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology, ecology, forestry, agriculture, or a closely related field. 2 years of closely related fieldwork is preferred.
