For SEASONAL NATURALIST/RESOURCE TECHNICIAN
Job Description:
The Naturalist/Resource Technician works with the Clayton County Naturalist/Resource Manager on a wide variety environmental education and natural resource stewardship duties. This position will independently design and construct nature center displays, write articles for the conservation newsletter, and assist with summer day camps for area youth. The candidate will collaborate on programming at public libraries and care centers. This position will also perform natural resource management duties including invasive species removal, seed harvesting, plant propagation, wildlife survey, and trail maintenance.
These duties may require the supervised use of tools and/or chemicals. Physically demanding position. Applicants will work a full day in extreme temperatures.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have some course work in biology, ecology or natural sciences. Courses in environmental education, interpretation, or outdoor recreation would be beneficial, but are not required. Experience with simple hand and power tools a plus. Applicants should have the ability to work with people of all ages and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be at least 18 years old.
Pre-employment physical and drug testing required.
Salary and Work Dates:
14.00 per hour, 40 hours per week. Weekend and night hours required. Positions begins in April/May and season will run 14 weeks.
