The Donation Team Member provides a welcoming, efficient, and safe donation experience while receiving, unloading, recording, sorting, and moving donated goods. As a primary point of contact for donors, the position represents Goodwill NLA's mission and helps ensure donations are handled with care, gratitude, and responsible stewardship from the moment they are received.
This role supports Goodwill NLA's mission of Improving People's Lives Through the Power of Work by helping turn community donations into resources that support workforce programs and community services.

DGR Store Manager / DGR Store Assistant Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Donor Service & Donation Intake Promptly acknowledges and welcomes donors and provides friendly, respectful, and efficient service.
Assists donors with safely unloading donated items while taking reasonable care to avoid damage to donor vehicles or property.
Explains accepted and non-accepted donation guidelines and tactfully declines items that cannot be accepted.
Offers and provides donation receipts in accordance with established procedures.
Handles all donations respectfully and maintains a professional donor experience regardless of merchandise quality.
Refers complaints, disputes, unusual donations, or other concerns to the Manager on Duty Sorting, Recording & Merchandise Flow Accurately records donor counts and other required donation information.
Pre-sorts donated goods into appropriate categories and containers according to established procedures.
Identifies and appropriately handles or reports hazardous materials, regulated household chemicals, prohibited items, and other safety concerns.
Moves full and empty containers to support efficient donation intake, processing, outlet, salvage, and other merchandise flow.
Assists drivers and other authorized employees with loading and unloading merchandise.
Moves furniture and other donated goods safely within the facility and assists customers with purchased merchandise to the designated pickup point as assigned
Stewardship & Asset Protection Protects all donated goods as Goodwill property once received and follows requirements regarding employee purchase, pricing, disposal, and removal of merchandise.
Does not sell, give away, trade, reserve, or otherwise divert donated merchandise outside established sales and disposition processes.
Reports suspected theft, misuse, prohibited items, hazardous materials, or other concerns promptly
Operational Support & Safety Maintains clean, organized, and unobstructed donation, backroom, loading, and exterior areas.
Uses required PPE and follows safe lifting, material-handling, equipment, and restricted-area procedures.
Assists with processing, merchandise movement, cleaning, sales-floor support, and other store operations as assigned and trained.
Attends required meetings and trainings.
Performs other duties as assigned in support of store operations and the agency mission.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma, HiSET/GED, or equivalent preferred. Previous customer-service, material-handling, retail, warehouse, or related experience preferred but not required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must complete and maintain any safety, equipment, or other position-specific training or authorization required for assigned duties.
Screenings:
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and any additional screenings required by agency policy.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND
SKILLS:
Strong customer and donor service skills.
Ability to communicate respectfully and clearly with donors and coworkers.
Ability to learn donation acceptance, sorting, and disposition guidelines.
Ability to work with a sense of urgency while handling donations safely and carefully.
Ability to organize merchandise and maintain accurate basic donation records.
Ability to safely use authorized material-handling equipment.
Ability to work effectively with others in a fast-paced indoor/outdoor environment.hysical Demands and Work Environment:
This is a physically active position requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting throughout the work shift. The employee regularly unloads donations from vehicles and handles merchandise of unpredictable size, shape, weight, and condition.
The employee regularly lifts and moves items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds independently. Heavier, bulky, or awkward…
