Summary of the role:

The Sales Engineer (SE) is responsible for promoting and selling Trelleborg products and services using sales excellence concepts within an assigned geographic area, market industry, product range or list of customer accounts to achieve sales and profit targets. The SE generates profitable territory sales growth by leveraging Trelleborg capabilities and resources to meet and exceed customer needs and expectations, with the goal of becoming a customer business consultant.

The SE builds relationships across all levels within existing customers and prospective target accounts to generate new business opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Sales Growth:
    Achieve sales targets with a focus on 10%+ year-over-year growth.
  • Profitability:
    Achieve profitability targets with a focus on 10%+ year-over-year growth.
  • Project Focus:
    Generate and convert projects for key target customers; manage project cycle and velocity.
  • Complete 7+ projects (4+ EAR) per month; track, monitor and improve project win rate; utilize CRM for all project information.
  • Complete 20+ sales visits per month with a mix of new and existing accounts.
  • Pursue leads, visit existing and new strategic customers with focus on total customer satisfaction and project generation for sales growth.
  • Build customer relationships and strategic partnerships; assess needs and recommend appropriate products and services; respond to complex inquiries; negotiate prices and delivery times and win sales orders to meet targets.
  • Identify, research, and contact prospective target growth customers to generate future sales and repeat business.
  • Provide market feedback and intelligence for use by local MC, Marketing Department, Segment/Product/Lead Group personnel.
  • Promote standard and custom-engineered products as needed; be a total solution provider.
  • Establish market sell price and profit margin in collaboration with Marketing, with support from the SM and GM.
  • Ensure timely flow of quotations to maximize competitiveness and win orders.
  • Complete month-end reports and submit during the first week of each month, including top customers and prospects, project outcomes, customer needs and market conditions.
  • Establish annual, quarterly, monthly and/or weekly strategic sales visit plans and customer action plans; prioritize and schedule activities to meet targets.
  • Collaborate with SM, GM and Marketing to increase brand awareness and identify marketing needs for the territory.
  • Learn and utilize internal processes: CRM, JDE, GPS, Consense, Quality, ISO.
  • Develop procedures to ensure customer projects, quotations and orders are processed efficiently and accurately.
  • Ensure full compliance with all SOPs including Quality Manual and Quality Procedures.
  • Represent the MC in cross-functional teams (Sales Projects, Sales Excellence, Quality, etc.).
Education And Experience
  • Minimum of 4-year college degree (Business or Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in sales or an engineering-related field.
  • Strong technical aptitude; mechanically inclined with ability to read technical prints and drawings.
  • Knowledge of the aerospace market is a plus.
  • Knowledge of rubber/plastic products is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with ISO quality requirements is beneficial.

Travel
  • The SE position is a local geographic position.
  • Travel requirements (including overnight travel) are approximately 50% of work time, including local, national, and international travel for customer visits, meetings and trainings.

The final compensation offered may be based on location, experience, and/or skill level; details will be outlined at the time of offer. Compensation range provided: $80,000–$120,000.
