Principal Scientist, Chemical Development
Position focuses on optimizing existing chemical routes and developing alternate chemistry for key synthetic intermediates and APIs. Carries out multistep chemical synthesis and product isolation/purification operations in the laboratory, independently or as part of an integrated team. Utilizes modern analytical tools to determine identity and purity of products. Communicates with clients in regular team meetings and prepares R&D reports at project conclusion.
Responsibilities- Design and carry out multistep organic syntheses, isolation, and purification of targeted products.
- Conduct literature searches for specific target compounds and use literature to design alternate routes; continuously engage in professional development.
- Carry out laboratory syntheses and purification techniques on scales ranging from milligrams to several kilograms, and design and implement process modifications.
- Author and review comprehensive reports at project conclusion for internal and customer use.
- Work closely with other chemistry and analytical staff to coordinate project activities and resource usage.
- Promote teamwork and cooperation within the group.
- Conduct laboratory operations safely, following the company’s chemical hygiene plan and safety practices.
- Follow responsible actions regarding chemical disposal and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field with minimum 6 years of experience, or M.S. in Chemistry or related field with minimum 10 years of experience, or B.S. in Chemistry or related field with 14 years of experience in a lab environment. Pharmaceutical experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of modern organic synthesis methodologies.
- Thorough understanding of modern analytical and spectroscopic techniques and ability to interpret data and spectra.
