Job Overview
This is an intermediate level maintenance position at Sewerage & Water Board's Facilities Maintenance Division. The candidate performs various semi‑skilled and some skilled construction, maintenance, and repair tasks, assists journey level Utilities Trade Technicians and Specialists, and learns to use hand and power tools.
Key Responsibilities- Perform maintenance and repair tasks across facilities.
- Assist utilities technicians/specialists in manual tasks.
- Operate hand and power tools safely.
- Support construction and building maintenance projects.
- Valid driver's license.
- At least 18 months of construction or building maintenance experience, or permanent status as Utilities Maintenance Trainee II with 18 months experience.
- Capability to pass a qualifying written mechanical aptitude test.
- Good moral character; no disqualifying criminal history.
All candidates must pass a qualifying written examination. Existing employees are exempt. Prior to appointment, the hiring agency will verify the driver's license and any claimed credentials, requiring original documents upon hire. A medical examination and substance‑abuse screening may be required.

Domicile RequirementsDomicile requirements are currently waived for the purpose of application, but new full‑time employees must be domiciled in Orleans Parish within 180 days of hire, except for certain exclusions. Applicants may request a domicile exception during the interview process.
