Overview
The Technician Class A position is a highly skilled professional capable of performing comprehensive diagnoses and repairs across all areas of vehicle maintenance. This role requires not only broad expertise in general repair tasks but also a specialization in at least one specific area of repair. Unlike Service Technician B Class, Technician - Class A demonstrates advanced diagnostic abilities and proficiency in specialized repair techniques.
The position demands a high level of technical acumen and the ability to address complex mechanical issues efficiently. This ensures that our dealership maintains the highest standards of service and customer satisfaction.
- Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
- Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair
- Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts
- Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer
- Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
- Communicates with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time
- Documents all work performed and recommended on the work order
- Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician
- Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor
- Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Attends and completes all company training as assigned
- Trains and mentors other diesel technicians
- Assist in other repairs as needed
- Maintains 100% efficiency or higher
- Other duties as assigned
- 5+ years related experience and/ or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- OEM Certifications Required to come in at this level
- CDL Preferred
The employees will be exposed to moving parts and electrical current. This position will also have employees exposed to grease, chemicals, dust, and dirt. Employees must also be able to lift at least 50 pounds and require the employee to frequently work in a crouched position or lying on the back, on mechanic's dolly beneath motor vehicles. Employee is required to reach and work overhead approximately 40% of the time.
The workload of this position is often performed in a non-climate-controlled environment.
