Auto Glass Installation Technician Trainee
Join Safelite as an Auto Glass Installation Technician Trainee and learn the Safelite way through hands‑on and classroom training. You will become a Safe Tech certified technician, capable of performing unsupervised glass repair, replacement, and recalibration while embodying a can‑do attitude, caring heart, and service mindset.
A Brief OverviewThe trainee will be trained and educated to become a proficient auto glass technician. Upon completing our training program, the trainee will receive the Safelite Safe Tech certification and will possess fundamental skills necessary for performing unsupervised glass repair, replacement and recalibrations.
What You Will Do- Be paid to learn and apprentice the Safelite way.
- Observe and assist in installing and repairing auto glass.
- Recalibrate automotive safety systems, including troubleshooting and completing diagnostic testing.
- Provide additional services & products.
- Study and pass testing to become a Safelite‑certified Technician.
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles, and company‑issued tools and chemicals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Competitive weekly pay starting at $20.25/hour, increasing to $24.00/hour after training and certification.
- Earn $5/set of wiper blades when added for customer safety.

- Program to buy additional PTO or sell unused time up to 16 hours.

- High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Preferred.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license (required). Any other required license(s) must also be held.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work in tight spaces, bend and twist body.
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with all federal, state and local laws, monitored by in‑cab vehicle safety camera/video surveillance technology.
- Professionalism and passion for outstanding customer service.
- Ability to work safely outside in a wide variety of weather conditions and extreme temperatures for extended periods.
- Ability to work with chemicals (including but not limited to flammable chemicals).
- Ability to work scheduled days, with flexibility on start and end times.
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools for recalibration and troubleshooting.
- Problem‑solving and independent or collaborative troubleshooting.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret English language and technical directions.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to company dress code and PPE policies.
- Willingness and ability to maintain stable performance under pressure.
