Are you an analytical problem-solver who enjoys digging into the details, uncovering discrepancies, and making sure the numbers add up? Our client is seeking a motivated Accounting Specialist to support a key financial reconciliation and data cleanup project following recent accounting system changes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Accounting Specialist who enjoys investigating financial data, identifying inconsistencies, and finding answers rather than simply checking boxes. You will work across multiple systems, spreadsheets, and supporting documents to determine the root cause of discrepancies and help ensure accurate financial records.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and confident using Excel to organize information, document findings, and support financial corrections.
💼 Key ResponsibilitiesReconcile Financial Data: Review account balances, statements, and payments across multiple systems and files.
Investigate Discrepancies: Determine whether issues stem from incorrect statements, missing payments, or system and data errors.
Analyze & Research: Dig into supporting documentation and financial records to identify the root cause of discrepancies.
Document Findings: Maintain clear, organized Excel spreadsheets outlining research, conclusions, and recommended next steps.
Support Corrections: Prepare documentation for accounting adjustments, system updates, and outstanding payments.
Collaborate Across Teams: Communicate identified issues to the appropriate internal contacts for resolution.
Track Outstanding Items: Follow up on corrections and ensure reconciliation items are fully resolved.
Maintain Accuracy: Keep financial documentation organized and exercise sound judgment throughout the reconciliation process.
Previous experience in accounting, accounts payable, reconciliations, data analysis, or a related field.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Excellent critical-thinking, research, and problem-solving skills.
Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel proficiency, including:
Copying, pasting, and organizing data.
Using basic formulas.
Maintaining spreadsheets and documenting findings.
Ability to work independently and navigate multiple systems and files.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple outstanding items.
Clear communication skills and the ability to explain findings and discrepancies.
A successful Accounting Specialist is naturally curious, methodical, and persistent. They enjoy connecting the dots, asking the right questions, and uncovering the reasons behind discrepancies.
You do not need to be an advanced accountant or an Excel expert to succeed. The right Accounting Specialist will bring a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the initiative to research an issue until they understand what happened and what needs to be done.
If you are an Accounting Specialist who enjoys problem-solving, working with financial data, and bringing accuracy and organization to accounting processes, this could be an excellent fit.
