Mechanical Engineer III (Clearance Preferred)

About the RoleThe Mechanical Engineering team is responsible for designing and building spacecraft, prototypes, and fixtures. As a Mechanical Engineer III, you will support design of major subsystems, focusing on satellite design while collaborating with cross‑functional teams on mission‑critical solutions, including ground support fixturing, electronic sub‑assembly packaging, and full satellite layout.
Responsibilities• Design and validate subsystems from requirement definition through flight article production and verification testing.
• Communicate with vendors, internal teams, and other stakeholders to ensure system‑level requirements are met.
• Support production scaling and manufacturing of high‑volume satellite components.
• Contribute to design reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (graduate degree preferred)
- 2–5 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in Solid Works CAD and GD&T manufacturing drawings
- Strong understanding of tolerancing, stack‑ups, RF, thermal, and power systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Active security clearance preferred (U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required)
- Compliance with U.S. Government export regulations (ITAR)
- Experience with spacecraft design and environmental verification
- Experience with PDM/PLM systems and FEA in Solid Works Simulation
- Familiarity with NASA or MIL‑STD processes and flight hardware
- Vendor interaction and procurement of specialized parts
- Electronic packaging skill set (harness routing, layout)
Annual salary range: $96,288 – $120,360. Final compensation is determined by qualifications, experience, and location.
