Manufacturing Engineer
Solid Power is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next‑generation, all solid‑state rechargeable batteries. We are a dynamic, fast‑paced, collaborative environment that requires a broad set of engineering skills and the ability to learn and apply new practices quickly. This position reports to Manufacturing Engineering management and works closely with operators and other manufacturing engineers.
Responsibilities- Work with industrial automation equipment related to lithium‑ion cell manufacturing.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to implement cross‑functional changes.
- Design or identify hardware to aid in the inspection of manufacturing processes.
- Train operators on new processes to a proficient level.
- Lead small‑scale slurry processing with the team, including operation, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Document engineering processes, including writing work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Analyze production data to determine process efficiencies.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments and team members.
- Identify ways to reduce cost and maximize quality.
- Own SRC countermeasure tracking and work with peers to ensure countermeasures are completed on time and effective.
- Provide coverage to support off‑shift tasks as required.
- Work in a dry‑room environment for extended periods.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of related industry experience, preferably with lithium‑ion cell manufacturing and testing.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred; certification required within the first year with company support.
- Experience with Solid Works (preferred).
- Experience with Minitab or JMP (preferred).
- Experience in a production environment (preferred).
- Experience with process data analysis and statistical analysis (preferred).
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary, including eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, and full‑face respirator or PAPR.
Salary Range: $65,000 – $95,000 per year
