Position: Electro-Optical Systems Engineer (Level IV)

Overview

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an Electro-Optical Systems Engineer to join our team in Louisville, CO
. You will work on active and passive electro-optical sensor systems, contributing to design, integration, testing, and field demonstration in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and field active and passive optical systems as part of a rapid-development engineering team.
  • Participate in electro-optical sensor systems architecture development for challenging missions.
  • Engage in system analysis, integration, engineering, and laboratory testing activities.
  • Contribute to summary reports, oral presentations, and technical proposals.
  • Select and specify components for electro-optical systems.
  • Develop prototypes and conduct field demonstrations.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with electro-optics, lasers, and hardware prototyping.
  • Design and engineering background with laboratory experience.
  • Planning, execution, and analysis of experimental methods.
  • Research and development of new technologies (TRL 2‑6).
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Must obtain & maintain a TS/SCI w/Poly security clearance.
Desired Skills
  • Consultative problem solving and flexible task management.
  • Multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge and systems engineering experience.
  • Project management – cost/schedule estimation and execution.
  • Technical leadership and business practice knowledge (NDAs, SOWs, BOEs).
  • Advanced degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, or related fields (desired).
  • Familiarity with optical design and analysis software (Zemax, FRED, SNLO, Code‑V, LASCAD) and control instrumentation tools (Matlab/Simulink, Lab View, Mathcad).
Security Clearance

TS/SCI w/Poly. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Employment Details

Full‑time, first shift. Onsite location. 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off.
