At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve.

We’re creating future‑ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security® vision. Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an Electro‑Optical MBSE Systems Engineer to join our team in Sunnyvale, CA or Louisville, CO. The Model Based Systems Engineer supports the development, upkeep, and documentation of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts for Electro‑Optical designs using the CAMEO Suite throughout the product lifecycle—from concept through deployment. Working under the guidance of senior MBSE leads, you will help define system architecture, interfaces, and requirements;

ensure traceability of those elements; and translate model data into clear, actionable deliverables (Word, Excel, diagrams) that serve as the primary communication medium for cross‑functional teams. The role also involves close collaboration with engineers, program managers, and subject matter experts, as well as providing peer level assistance and mentorship on model usage and best practices. The selected candidate will also lead and assist a team in getting an unclassified Teamwork Cloud instantiation up and running for a few different efforts.

Desired Skills

  • Experience identifying risks and working with the team to set priorities and stay focused on the most important objectives related to burning down the risks.
  • Experience leading or interfacing with medium to large subcontracts (i.e. Antenna development or Bus Supplier).
  • Experience across all program life cycles on large and small programs, from initial development through post‑launch support and mission operations.
