Accounts Receivable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to support day-to-day receivables operations for a team based in Louisville, Kentucky. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is well suited for someone who enjoys keeping customer accounts accurate, resolving payment issues, and maintaining steady cash flow through timely follow-up. The person in this role will handle a mix of billing support, payment posting, and commercial collections while working closely with internal partners to address account discrepancies.

Responsibilities:

- Manage customer receivable accounts by reviewing open balances, tracking payment activity, and following up on past-due invoices.

- Apply incoming payments accurately and reconcile remittance details to ensure account records remain current and correct.

- Conduct commercial collection efforts through effective outreach with customers to secure payment and reduce aging balances.

- Prepare and process billing-related transactions, making sure invoices are issued correctly and in a timely manner.

- Investigate account variances, short payments, and disputed charges by coordinating with internal departments and customers.

- Maintain detailed documentation of collection activity, payment status, and account updates for reporting and audit purposes.

- Support cash collection objectives by monitoring receivable trends and helping prioritize accounts that need immediate attention. Requirements - Experience working in accounts receivable with responsibility for customer account maintenance and payment tracking.

- Background in commercial collections with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively regarding outstanding balances.

- Hands-on experience with cash application processes and accurate posting of customer payments.

- Knowledge of cash collections practices and methods for reducing overdue receivables.

- Familiarity with billing functions, including invoice review, issuance, and account adjustments.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve account issues efficiently.

- Proficiency with standard business systems and spreadsheet tools used for receivables processing and reporting.
