OverviewWe are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy civil and utility construction projects. This role is ideal for someone who wants to gain hands‑on experience with self‑perform work in utilities, site development, paving, and infrastructure while working closely with project managers, superintendents, and field crews. The Project Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and quality across all phases of construction.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting for heavy civil, site, and utility projects.
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal field teams to maintain project timelines.
- Prepare RFIs, submittals, material take‑offs, and other project documentation.
- Track quantities, production, and cost reports to support project controls and forecasting.
- Monitor field operations to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency are maintained.
- Support project managers and superintendents with day‑to‑day tasks, problem‑solving, and client communications.
- Participate in meetings with clients, owners, inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Ensure accurate closeout documentation including as‑built, O&M manuals, and punch list completion.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–4 years of experience in heavy civil construction (internship or full‑time).
- Strong understanding of civil/utility construction practices, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency with construction technology tools (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, scheduling software, Microsoft Office).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced team environment.
