Summary
We are looking for passionate and creative early childhood educators to join our teaching community for the school year! 2nd Pres believes learning starts with safe and healthy relationships between teachers and children. From there, our curriculum is a balance of supporting developmental milestones and supporting children's interests through hands‑on, experiential learning. We serve children 6 weeks through kindergarten and utilize our beautiful building and outdoor campus for all ages.
Duties
- In weekly planning sessions coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards with your Co‑Teacher.
- Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modelling and coaching.
- Plan individual and group age‑appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
- Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, parent night events and parent‑teacher conferences.
- Ensure all centre policies and state regulations are met.
- Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
- Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
- Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Must clear a full background check and must pass health screening.
- Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
- A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colours, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills.
Nice to Haves
- Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience preferred.
- Associate's Degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 credits in ECE preferred. Salary is commensurate with degree or experience.

- Children of staff may attend our school if rooms are available. The registration fee is waived for all staff children and partial scholarships may be available.
- Enrolled children of staff members may attend extended day services without charge when the staff member is working during those hours at the school.

- The Board pays pertinent early childhood conference registration fees (LECA/KECA/SECA, NAEYC) and the fee for state‑mandated CPR and paediatric first aid courses.
- Board‑Parents treat staff to week‑long “Teacher Appreciation Week” and many luncheons.
Base pay range
$20,000.00/yr – $31,217.00/yr
