Position: High School Counselor - Doss High School (2025-2026) Start time : 8:40am

note to new and existing administrators - acceptance of a jcps administrator (assistant principal/counselor) position serves as acknowledgement of a 1 year commitment to the position and location of acceptance. No new or existing administrator will be authorized to be considered for a lateral move until that commitment is met. Please find the complete jcasa agreement, attached.

please note, if the vacancy you are seeking is more working calendar days than your current position (i.e. Elementary counselor 195 to middle/high school counselor 215) or a higher salary grade than your current position (i.e. Middle/elementary school ap grade 11 to high school ap grade 12), you may still apply because these are deemed to be promotional opportunities.

scope of responsibilities

assumes responsibility for the implementation of the districts guidance program at the building level. Counselors provide systematic and on-going individual and group counseling services related to the academic, vocational, social and personal development of students. Secondary school counselors provide information, consultation, appraisal, testing, and referral services designed to achieve appropriate program selection, placement and career planning for students. Major component responsibilities include orientation, academic planning, and class scheduling for individual students, maintenance of all student records, and the implementation of federal, state, and local educational mandates.

qualifications
  • masters degree with major in guidance and counseling
  • certification in guidance and counseling by kentucky department of education
  • three (3) years of successful teaching experience or relevant school based experience
  • effective communication skills
