Experienced Roadway Engineer​/Design Lead

About the Role

GPD Group is seeking an Experienced Roadway Engineer / Design Lead to serve as the roadway design lead for our Kentucky operation in Louisville, KY. This role focuses on leading roadway and drainage design teams, coordinating project design, and ensuring high quality standards across projects.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Kentucky professional engineering registration (PE)
• Ohio PE registration or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Minimum 5 years of roadway/transportation design experience
• Strong relationships with KYTC and local agencies
• Proficiency in AutoCAD-Civil 3D, Microstation – Open Roads / Geopak
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience preparing KYTC Plan packages (roadway, drainage, and Maintenance of Traffic components)
• Ohio Department of Transportation work experience is a plus
• Ability to work on projects of varying size and type
• Regular communication with project managers and staff across offices for workload sharing, technical reviews, and training
• Completion of technical tasks including design and quality reviews
• Problem identification, evaluation of resolution options, risk assessment, and implementation of solutions
• Maintenance of QA/QC standards in line with GPD’s program, industry, and client expectations
• Collaborative project environment; effective communication with clients and team members (virtual, in-person, phone)
• Valid driver’s license

• Lead roadway design team in project design, coordination, and technical quality reviews
• Produce production plans
• Conduct quantity calculations
• Mentor and empower junior engineers
• Serve as a servant leader within the company and community as a technical expert
