Automotive Technical Service Engineer - Elastomers
Specialty chemical / material manufacturer is looking for an experienced technical service rep or applications engineer with experience in the automotive industry. They are looking for someone with relationships with the automotive OEM’s as well as a background in rubber / elastomer chemistry. This role supports the successful adoption of their elastomers in automotive applications by collaborating across all tiers of the automotive supply chain, OEMs, suppliers, and internal teams. It combines technical expertise with cross-functional coordination to guide product development, resolve customer issues, and align solutions with market needs. The position also contributes to industry insights through presentations and research, while managing projects from concept to launch and maintaining compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Customer-facing collaboration with all levels of supply chain, including OEM engineering and materials teams, and their tier suppliers for successful implementation of their elastomers for new business opportunities.
- Work cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and sales teams to ensure product feasibility and alignment with market needs.
- Utilize technical knowledge in the use of elastomers (rubber) in automotive applications, with basic understanding of rubber compounding and manufacturing processes, in support of both internal and external customers.
- This includes on-site visits, presentations, and issue resolutions working directly with customers.
- Develop and present technical literature for conferences and publication, present technical webinars, generate market information in automotive areas to assist internal executive strategic decisions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automotive industry trends, standards, and technologies.
- Manage and support project development from concept to product launch.
- Comply with all Safety, Health, and Environmental policies & procedures and adhere to their Integrated Management System.
- Perform all other duties assigned by leadership team.
- Domestic & International travel required up to 40% of the time.

Salary: $120,000 - $140,000
