Position: Civil Designer 3

Job Overview

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Civil Designer 3 to join our dynamic NE Engineering group. The role is available in any of our offices.

Qualifications
  • Advanced level of skills – proficiency in Civil 3D and advanced grading tools.
    Advanced understanding of corridor and alignment design.
  • Experience in mass grading and linear projects.
  • Stays current on software updates and advises based on technical changes.
  • Promotes and instructs others on advanced techniques and new methods.
Physical Requirements
  • Work indoors in a professional office setting.
  • Sit for extended periods while performing computer‑based tasks.
  • Use hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment.
  • Visual acuity to read printed materials, digital screens, and detailed documents.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment.
  • Lift and carry office materials weighing up to 10–20 pounds.
  • Adequate hearing for conversations, phone calls, and virtual meetings.
  • Travel for meetings, training, or business purposes.
Minimum Years of Experience
  • 8+ years of experience.
Education
  • Associate Degree from an accredited technical school or equivalent experience.
  • Associates in Drafting or related field (required).
Certification/Licensure
  • Driver’s License (required).
Technical Responsibilities
  • Perform and guide others on deliverables with focus on CAD standards, software utilization and data management procedures.
  • Independently perform analyses.
Project and Task Management
  • Responsible for task management and adherence to deadlines and scope.
Management Responsibility
  • Mentor lower‑level CAD operators and provide solutions to unique problems.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and receive general review of project work.
Communication Skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Facilitate interaction among staff, coach and mentor lower‑level CAD staff, and interact closely with the project team.
  • Participate in regular project meetings.
