We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) who will support the quality performance of our global packaging suppliers and help drive continuous improvement across the supply base. This role directly contributes to reducing the Cost of Quality (COQ) by ensuring suppliers consistently meet expectations for quality, delivery, and value.
In this position, you will lead supplier qualification, development, and lifecycle management while supporting New Product Introductions, solving quality issues, and improving manufacturing processes for packaging commodities such as adhesives, EPS, insulation, tape, foam and cardboard. How You ll Create Possibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Ownership and Lifecycle Management:
Manage supplier relationships impacting Cost of Quality for packaging components.Lead supplier selection, certification, qualification, and continuous improvement activities.
Influence sourcing and design decisions and drive early supplier engagement.
Partner with Sourcing teams to develop and execute supplier strategies that advance long-term excellence in cost, quality, and delivery.
New Product Introduction (NPI) and Process Launch
Oversee certification and launch of new manufacturing processes within the supply base.
Ensure all APQP requirements are met and that complete PPAP documentation is delivered for new parts.
Deliver qualified materials and PPAP-approved parts ahead of pilot builds with strong supply chain readiness.
Work cross-functionally as the part program manager to build schedules, resolve barriers, and ensure materials are ready for production.
Quality Issue Resolution
Respond to quality issues at the plant and lead corrective actions through closure.
Ensure durable solutions for manufacturing or consumer concerns related to supplier defects.
Develop recovery plans for underperforming suppliers or support qualification of alternate sources when appropriate.
Continuous Improvement and Technical Excellence
Lead supplier quality improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
Promote use of data, metrics, and quality tools including SPC, Gage R&R, Capability Analysis, FMEA and DOEs.
Translate complex information into clear, concise summaries for leadership.
Anticipate program needs and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
What You ll Bring to Our Team
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technical field (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or equivalent technical experience.
3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, supply chain, quality, or related technical functions.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with packaging-related manufacturing processes (adhesives, insulation, EPS, tape, foam).
Ability to read and interpret drawings, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate at multiple levels of an organization.
Experience applying statistical quality tools such as SPC, Gage R&R, Capability Analysis, FMEA, and DOEs.
Proven ability to independently manage and execute project plans.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
