Talent Acquisition Consultant – Early Career Urban Planner
WSP is initiating a search for a full‑time Early Career Urban Planner for our offices in Cincinnati, OH;
Columbus, OH;
Cleveland, OH;
Dayton, OH;
Akron, OH;
Toledo, OH; and other regional offices such as Lexington, KY;
Louisville, KY;
Pittsburgh, PA; and Indianapolis, IN.
Take part in providing local technical planning assistance for capturing, modeling, and analyzing study area information, geographical resources, and spatial and tabular data to inform and create plans for site and/or linear utility projects in the Midwest. Tasks include supporting siting and routing studies, site visits, public open houses, field maps, ecological studies, and plan maps. You will generate accurate and concise documentation, ensuring deliverables meet or exceed industry standards.

- Plan, execute, and lead siting and routing studies for energy industry projects in Ohio and surrounding states.
- Gather background data, prepare maps, participate in meetings to document findings to clients and agencies, conduct windshield surveys, and compile a defensible report.
- Act as liaison with governmental agencies, clients, and team members.
- Support siting reports documenting the selection process.
- Provide guidance on state filing requirements and write components for public utility applications.
- Utilize ArcGIS for analysis and data management for site and environmental permitting projects.
- Prepare data visualizations such as maps, tables, charts, accurate reports, and illustrations.
– Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 0–1 year of experience conducting siting and routing studies, preferably in Ohio and surrounding states.
- 0–1 year of experience with ESRI's ArcGIS platform.
- Familiarity with routing/siting studies, analyses, and report preparation.
- Excellent technical writing skills, clear communication, teamwork, and attention to detail.
- Commitment to timely completion of high‑quality work, often independently motivated.
- Willing to travel for site visits and public open house meetings.
- High motivation, positive attitude, willingness to learn and take responsibility.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and complying with WSP’s health, safety, and harassment policies.
- Flexibility to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- 1–3 years of experience conducting siting and routing studies, preferably in Ohio and surrounding states.
- 1–3 years of experience with ESRI's ArcGIS platform.
- Experience preparing applications for submittal to the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB), Kentucky Public Utilities Commission (PUC), and other states.
- Previous consulting experience.
- Experience with both Arc Map and ArcGIS Pro.
- Relationships and understanding of utility company requirements in Ohio and surrounding states.

CompensationExpected Salary (Cleveland, OH): $50,400 – $75,600
