Early Career Planner/Siting Specialist – WSP, U.S.

Full‑time position based in Lexington, KY;
Louisville, KY;
Pittsburgh, PA; or Indianapolis, IN.

This role provides local technical planning assistance for capturing, modeling, and analyzing study‑area information, geographical resources, and spatial and tabular data to inform and create plans for site and/or linear utility projects in the Midwest.

• Plan, execute, and lead siting and routing studies for energy industry projects.
• Gather background data, prepare siting and routing maps, and document findings for clients and agencies.
• Conduct public open‑house meetings, windshield surveys, and other field activities.
• Document the siting process and produce defensible reports.
• Act as liaison with governmental agencies, clients, and team members.
• Provide guidance on state filing requirements and support public‑utility application components.
• Utilize ArcGIS to support ecological and environmental permitting projects.
• Prepare data visualizations (maps, tables, charts) and accurately report findings.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 0–1 year(s) of experience conducting siting and routing studies (preferably in Ohio and surrounding states).
• 0–1 year(s) of experience with ESRI's ArcGIS platform.
• Familiarity with performing routing/siting studies, analyses, and report preparation.
• Excellent technical writing, clear communication, and attention to detail.
• Self‑motivated, ability to complete high‑quality work independently.
• Willingness to travel for site visits and attend public open‑house meetings.
• Positive attitude and commitment to ongoing learning.
• Adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
• Availability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

• 1–3 years of experience conducting siting and routing studies in Ohio and surrounding states.
• 1–3 years of experience with ESRI's ArcGIS platform.
• Experience preparing applications for submittal to the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB), Kentucky Public Utilities Commission (PUC), and other state agencies.
• Previous consulting experience.
• Experience with Arc Map and ArcGIS Pro.
• Established relationships and understanding of utility company requirements in Ohio and surrounding states.

Expected Salary (Cleveland, OH): $50,400 – $75,600. WSP reserves the right to adjust the range based on experience and location.
