Field Service Technician
Location: Louisville, KY (field service within 100 miles of Louisville)
Job Type: Full-time, Hourly (Non-Exempt)
Schedule: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (occasional overtime)
About the Role
Krauth Electric is seeking a skilled and dependable Field Service Technician to perform advanced diagnostic and analytical services on electromechanical equipment. This balancing, vibration analysis, alignment, and troubleshooting of electric motors and related equipment at customer sites.
This is a field-based role requiring strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. Technicians are provided a company vehicle each day and travel from the shop to customer locations and back. The ideal candidate is technically capable, dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working directly with customers.
Key ResponsibilitiesElectromechanical Testing & Analysis
- Perform dynamic balancing and vibration analysis on electric motors
- Conduct field vibration analysis and thermographic scans
- Perform field alignment and field balancing
- Operate diagnostic and testing equipment including analyzers and data collectors
- Load, unload, and manage data collected in the field
- Collect field data and oil samples for future analysis
- Generate detailed reports documenting testing procedures and analysis results
Equipment Operation
- Operate balancing stations, vibration meters, and vibration analyzers
- Use electrical test equipment including megohmmeter, high potential tester, surge comparison tester, magnet tester, and oscilloscope
- Utilize dial indicator and laser alignment equipment
- Operate thermographic cameras and related software
- Use computers and software for reporting and analysis
Customer & Team Support
- Work directly with customers at job sites
- Support sales and customer service efforts when needed
- Communicate findings, issues, and recommendations clearly and professionally
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education
- Associate degree in a technical field or advanced technical education related to the work performed (preferred)
Experience / Skills / Knowledge
- Electrical and mechanical experience related to electric motors preferred
- Electronics experience is helpful
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Ability to operate independently with little or no supervision
- Strong computer skills for data analysis and report generation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Previous sales or customer-facing experience preferred
- Must be dependable and reliable
- Excellent manual dexterity
- Must have and maintain an excellent driving record
Preferred Certifications
- Level I Electrical Certification
- Level I and Level II Vibration Analysis Certification
Physical & Work Environment
- Field-based service environment with fluctuating temperatures
- Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds
- Must be willing to work overtime as required
