Responsibilities
The incumbent responsibilities include the repair, calibration, and maintenance of specialized equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems. Incumbent inspects, installs, and provides preventive maintenance of specialized equipment. Specialized equipment includes but is not limited to imaging devices/systems, and others as designated by Clinical Engineering leadership. Instructs more junior co-workers and provides informal supervision in the absence of the supervisor. Independently evaluates, designs, and re‑designs departmental procedures.
Understands the clinical principles of assigned specialized equipment (must be able to consult with radiologists, cardiologists, or other providers who work with specialized equipment). Obtains manufacturer certification to service specialized equipment. Possesses a general knowledge of related specialized equipment. Develops and recommends to Clinical Engineering leadership appropriate service strategies based on reviews of manufacturer specifications, equipment data, and applicable regulatory standards.
May design and create special test set‑ups to facilitate testing and troubleshooting.
Required:
- With an Associate's Degree:
Five years repair and maintenance of complex clinical equipment - Without an Associate's Degree:
Completion of Electronics or U.S. Military Biomedical equipment technology program and Five years repair and maintenance of complex clinical equipment
Desired:
- Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician
- Certified Laboratory Equipment Specialist
- Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist
